Drainage

A french drain is a device that helps move water from one place to another. It is made up of the trench with has rock that is wrapped in geotextile fabric to keep silt and roots out. Then in the rock is a perforated drain pipe that is also wrapped in geotextile fabric.

We can also accomodate clients with drainage problems resulting from gutter run off and slow draining sloped areas.  We have installed downspouts that lead into the French Drain system and false/dry riverbeds.  These are a great way to handle excess water discharge without compromising the beauty and integrity of your landscape.

• Think long term. For successful drainage, not for the everyday rain, but for the two rains that come every year, that we call gully rushers, torrential rain, and when it is raining cats and dogs. This is also for the kind of rain we receive every 10 years that we experienced this past spring.

 • When looking at your property, assess where the main water flow lines are and how much accumulative water gathers in a given spot (i.e. Water holes and puddles.)

 • Good drainage = good biological health

 • Standing water cuts off oxygen and causes death. Stagnant water is dead water.

• Your castle is your greatest asset. Keep it high and dry.
